Hit and Run Law

A hit and run is when there is an automobile accident and a person or animal is harmed, or contact is done to someone´s private property, and the person driving does not stop to aware the police. Sometimes people will find harm done to their car that they did not do, which would be classified as a hit and run.

There are penalties that come from a hit and run although they can differ. If there was only harm done to property the individual then has to pay to fix it. They can do that through insurance or fines they may receive. The penalty for personal harm is a lot more severe and can include, fines, DMV points, suspended license or jail time. If a death were to happen in a hit and run accident it would be deemed a felony.
