Guardian Ad Litem

A guardian ad litem is assigned by the court to represent a child during a legal dispute involving the child. Many times this is a divorce proceeding. The guardian ad litem research the living conditions for the child by interviewing any witnesses to the family's relationship. Upon this investigation, the guardian ad litem will make a recommendation with the best interests of the child in mind to the court about the custody and visitation rights.
