Federal Drug Crimes

The federal and state laws make it illegal to make, distribute or possess drugs. The punishment is based on the type of drug, the amount and the intent of the possession. Producing and selling drugs are very serious crimes in the eyes of the government. Some states increase the punishment if the drugs are near minors or if the person is found to be a "drug kingpin."
